Marion M. Dollar was born in Mize, Mississippi in 1939. He joined the Navy in 1957 and married the former Shirley Sue Sellers of Shaw, Mississippi in May, 1959. Together they finished a career in the Navy where he served on four aircraft carriers and taught electronics at NATTC Memphis. Retiring from the Navy in 1979, he went to work for Texas Instruments in Houston as a Quality Engineer and later moving to Dallas working in the Defense Industry. After two careers they moved back to Taylorsville, Mississippi and built their retirement home where they now reside. He started his writing career at this time.
