                     GOD WAS BUSY

The Navy Seal had just gotten back

From a grueling tour over in Iraq

He had enrolled in college determined to do his best

Listening to a liberal professor, he wasn't like the rest

The professor was an atheist, did not know God

Had no need for Him wherever he trod

Just to prove there was no God he said with a shout

"If you exist God, come down here and knock me out."

The Navy Seal walked to the front of the room

And with a big roundhouse, he lowered the boom

The professor just lay there out like a light

All his eyes could see was the dead of night

The Navy Seal pulled up a chair and calmly sat down

And waited for the professor to come back around

The professor slowly raised himself up from the floor

And sheepishly asked, "Why'd you do that for?"

"Well, the Navy Seal said, "God is a busy man

Protecting the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan

He's making sure you are protected too

So you can espouse your biased point of view

God doesn't have time for fools like you

But he has an alternate plan for what to do

So God sent me to answer your request

Because liberal atheists like you don't deserve the best.

          MY BROTHER IS A REDNECK

My brother is a Mississippi redneck

He stands when the National Anthem plays

He says Merry Christmas to everyone

Instead of Happy Holidays

When he says the Pledge of Allegiance

With his right hand over his heart

He makes sure he says 'Under God'

Cause that is the important part

Being the redneck that he is

He gets a lump when our flag flies

It has never entered his mind

To consider otherwise

He just doesn't understand

The tension between the races

And he would never think of protesting

The Ten Commandments in public places

The things the teenagers do now

Wasn't done in his younger days

He always bows his head in awe

Whenever someone prays

For all those Viet Nam veterans

There is a soft spot in his heart

He feels they were patriotic

And most died doing their part

He never borrows money

Nor does he ever lend

But he has been known to give

His last dollar to a friend

Yes, my brother is a redneck

He may not always be right

But he's the one I choose

When the time comes to fight.

                   MEMORIES

The morning zephyrs cause the spider lilies to billow

And bring to mind the derivation of their name

This midsummer morning stands alone in its glory

Though there may be many more none are the same

The dew on the roses cause them to glisten

Like diamonds upon the sand

It is a time for reflections and memories

Of times past as though they were banned

The beauty of Nature is beautiful to behold

Like a loved one, it should be cherished

We can only see its beauty for a fortnight

Our memories linger and yearn to be nourished

And so the cycle remains for each of us

Our beauty and youth is soon over and gone

We are left with our memories and each other

And the cycle will start over with the dawn.
